Leg Veins
A common concern for both men and women are spider veins and varicose veins. Spider veins are small, damaged veins that can have a bothersome appearance on the surface of the legs. They are usually not painful or harmful, however people may wish to remove them. The color of spider veins can be blue, purple, or red and may appear as thin lines, webs, or branches. Varicose veins are enlarged, swollen, and twisting veins, often appearing blue or dark purple.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is one of the least invasive methods for vein removal. It involves injections of a solution directly into the affected veins. This procedure is quick and generally well-tolerated by most patients. Once the solution is injected into the veins, the lining of the vessels is irritated, causing the vein walls to stick together. The blood is then redirected through healthy veins, and over time the treated veins are naturally removed by the body.
Developed and used since the 1930s, sclerotherapy is an in-office procedure that takes up to 30 - 45 minutes on average and is easy to fit into any busy schedule. A more comfortable, convenient solution to extensive vein removal surgery, sclerotherapy has a high success rate among most patients. Sometimes requiring 1-3 treatments.
After sclerotherapy treatment, a daily walking regimen is encouraged to maintain good circulation and reduce the risk of blood clots after treatment. We will also have you wear compression stockings for a few days in order to compress the treated veins and get a better result. Our medical team will provide specific post-treatment instructions in order to optimize your results.
