How does Kybella® work?
Kybella® is made of synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a molecule that naturally occurs in our bodies. Deoxycholic acid found in our bodies, aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When it is injected into the fat, it destroys the fat cells in that area, and then your body naturally eliminates the fat cells.
What is the treatment day like?
After the skin has been cleaned, and numbing cream has taken affect, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin. The injection process generally takes about 20 minutes. The exact number of injections necessary will depend on your anatomy and the amount of fat you have under your chin.
How many treatments do I need?
The degree of the fulness of your double chin will determine how many treatments you will need. Generally, people need 1-6 treatments with most people receiving 3 treatments.
What is the down time?
The most common side effects of Kybella®, include swelling, bruising, or numbness under your chin. Social downtime is expected with the initial 24 hours, as well as some swelling for the first 3-5 days.
How long before I see my results?
At around 4-8 weeks is when you will start to see the results from your treatment.
How long will my results last?
The results are similar to that of liposuction and other fat reducing treatments. Once the fat cells are destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat. Because there is a reduction in the fat cells in the treated area, the area appears smaller. Generally speaking, after your initial series of treatments, further treatment is not needed once you have reached your desired aesthetic goal.
